Acoustic design of the new Arts and Sciences Hub and spaces for music practice.

Cardinal Newman College was founded in 1947 by the congregation of Irish Christian Brothers and is currently a landmark of academic excellence and of commitment to the values and ideals upheld by the Catholic Church. Located in Boulogne, a residential area in the suburbs of Buenos Aires, the current building of the school was dedicated in 1971.

With the purpose of renovating the school’s facilities to provide an education suitable for the XXI century, an ambitious Master Plan was outlined by the authorities of Newman, which included, among other improvements, the necessary renovations to incorporate girls into the educational project.

Since Fernando del Solar Dorrego of Patagon Acoustics is a Newman alumnus, Patagon Acoustics’ work in providing the acoustic design for the architectural renovation outlined in the Master Plan, was both a technical challenge and an act of retribution for the exceptional education Fernando received during his time at Newman. The work by Patagon Acoustics in the architectural project lead by Lacroze Miguens Prati Arquitectos included the acoustic design of the new arts and sciences Hub and spaces for music practice, using advanced computational techniques and innovative materials and construction methods.
