Located in Beccar, a residential area in the suburbs of Buenos Aires, this historical, 100-year-old church is a symbol of catholic tradition and education in Argentina. Unfortunately, when the temple was built, no acoustical criteria was considered, and the space suffered from a massive, 8-second reverberation time. Aesthetic concerns were at a premium and modifying surface finishes in the church was out of the question.

An ODEON acoustic computer model of the church was developed, and simulations of the space were run. Speech intelligibility was measured on-site with our advanced Bedrock SM50 STIPA analyzer and the BTB65 TalkBox. Placing microperforated, transparent, sound-absorbing material in front of glazing was recommended.

Conveying sonic truth through science, art and engineering.
